The Chase RCMP responded to the Adams Lake community at approximately 4 a.m. on Aug. 14 after receiving reports of a man firing a semi-automatic rifle in the air.
The man had been making threats against a woman and another person and was apparently firing the rifle in an attempt to scare them. The man came out of his house on Chief Jules Drive and fired into the air about 30 times said an RCMP press release.
Police removed the woman from the area and entered the residence arresting the 54-year-old man for uttering threats and careless use of a firearm. Police then executed a search warrant on the property seizing numerous firearms and ammunition as well as marijuana.
The man was later released on a promise to appear for a court date in October.
