A search for a missing boy was brief, and with a happy ending.
On the evening of June 16 , Chase RCMP received a report of a missing nine-year-old boy.
The child was reported to have gone for a bicycle ride with instructions to return home by 6 p.m. When he did not return, the parents conducted an initial search without success, and then called police.
Shuswap Search and Rescue, and the RCMP Police Dog Service were called in to assist with an expanded search. By 6:40 a.m, the next morning, information was received that the boy had spent the night at a friend’s house. He was returned to his parents safe and sound.
Short flight
A Pritchard man is facing court time with after a short-lived flight from police.
On the morning of June 8, Chase RCMP were notified that a man known to police was driving a truck without insurance or license plates in the Pritchard area.
Officers attended the area and began a patrol. At 9:40 a.m., the officers were crossing Pritchard Bridge when the suspect truck entered the single lane bridge from the opposite end.
The officers engaged their emergency lights and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle.
The driver was visually identified by a police officer before reversing off the bridge fleeing the scene. The investigating officers later attended the suspect’s residence and placed him under arrest for flight from police. He was released on a Promise to Appear, with a court date in July, and served with multiple Motor Vehicle Act violation tickets.
Collision
On June 12 at about 2 a.m., Chase RCMP were called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision in the 2900 block of Squilax-Anglemont Road.
A grey El Camino with an Alberta license plate had driven off the road, striking a parked Ford Focus.
The driver of the El Camino identified himself to the owner of the Ford, and then departed the scene prior to police arrival. Not long after, the driver of the El Camino was stopped by Kamloops RCMP and issued a 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition. There were no injuries and the collision remains under investigation.
Break-in
On June 13, Chase RCMP received a report that a break-in had occurred within the pervious 24 hours at a seasonal residence near Seymour Arm. Missing were a Yamaha 175cc dirt bike and a 90cc dirt bike. Also taken were a Honda generator and a water pump. Oh deer
On June 14 at about 8 p.m., Chase RCMP received a call regarding a single-vehicle collision on Holding Road near Adams Lake. A witness stated an Alberta-plated vehicle had swerved to avoid striking a deer and went off the road, rolling down an embankment. The male driver and passenger were transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Bad timing
On June 19, Chase RCMP attended a two-vehicle collision on Squilax-Anglemont Road, at Leopold Road near Scotch Creek. A 35-year-old male driver in a Dodge pick-up truck attempted to cross Squilax-Anglemont Road. As he drove across the travelling lanes his truck was struck on the passenger side by a westbound Chevrolet Tracker driven by a 23-year-old male. Neither driver, nor the female passengers, were injured. A violation ticket was issued to the driver of the pick-up truck. Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the collision.
Boat found
On June 20, Chase RCMP received a call about an abandoned vessel that had washed ashore on Little Shuswap Lake. The 12-foot aluminum fishing boat was located on the beach in front of a Chase residence. The vessel has not been reported as stolen, and police are asking for assistance in identifying its owner. The owner will need to provide proof of ownership in order to claim the vessel.
