Chase has joined other provincial agencies in instituting a fire ban.
A complete fire ban has been laid over the Chase area and has been effective since Friday.
The ban, introduced Aug. 17, pertains to all forms of open burning including campfires of any size, tiki torches and backyard pits. It was implemented after a trend of hot and dry weather began producing wildfires in the region.
"Human-caused wildfires can divert critical resources and crews from responding to naturally occurring wildfires," Ministry of Forests, ands and Natural Resource Operations.
The Ministry has announced that anyone found in violation of the open fire ban may be issued a ticket for up to $345. Anyone who is found causing a wildfire through arson or recklessness maybe fined up to $1 million, and may spend up to three years in prison as well as be held accountable for all costs associated to firefighting expenses.
