It didn’t take long for the North Okanagan-Shuswap School District to confirm its leadership moving ahead.

Just a day after announcing Glenn Borthistle is departing this summer as superintendent, the district announced Tuesday that Peter Jory will be the new superintendent starting in August.

“I feel Peter is an excellent fit to lead the school district as it embarks on its new strategic plan during complex times when we are dealing with enrolment growth, space pressures and the implementation of a new curriculum and a collective agreement with our teachers,” said Mike McKay, official trustee.

Jory is currently the director of instruction for the Sea to Sky School District in Squamish.

“I am really looking forward to getting started and working with the (North Okanagan-Shuswap) school district team,” said Jory.

Jory has previously held leadership positions in the Fraser-Cascade, Prince Rupert and Cowichan Valley school districts.
