Fire hydrant smash-up

A driver who was two times over the legal limit for alcohol consumption sheers the top of a fire hydrant.

A 19-year-old Salmon Arm man was arrested after crashing into a fire hydrant on Auto Road.  At approximately 6:30 a.m., on Thursday April 3, police responded to a single-vehicle collision where a jeep had failed to negotiate the turn, left the roadway, and became high centred atop a fire hydrant. The impact sheered the hydrant causing water to expel high into the air. The suspect was discovered to have over two times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
