Foundation seeks volunteers

The Shuswap Hospital Foundation is leading a fundraising campaign for two palliative care rooms at Shuswap Lake General Hospital.

The Shuswap Hospital Foundation is leading a fundraising campaign for the construction of two palliative/end-of-life rooms at Shuswap Lake General Hospital.

These two rooms will be located on level 2 of the hospital and will provide a tranquil space for relatives and family members during their stay. The need for increased palliative/end-of-life care has brought together four groups to assist in raising $130,000 to achieve the goal required for this project.

The Shuswap North Okanagan Division of Family Practice, Shuswap Hospice Society, Shuswap Hospital Foundation and the three Rotary Clubs of Salmon Arm will be actively raising funds during the next three months.

One current palliative care room on level 2 will be remodelled as will another level 2 room.

The Shuswap North Okanagan Division of Family Practice has committed $30,000 to the goal and the three Rotary Clubs of Salmon Arm are currently working on making their commitment of funds.

The kiosk is open and operates from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. in two-hours shifts. To volunteer for a shift at the kiosk, call Diana McFarlane or Fiona Harris at 250-803-4546 or email diana.mcfarlane@interiorhealth.ca.
