Heavy rain and winds coming to Highway 1 between Sicamous and Golden

A special weather statement in in effect today (June 13) and tomorrow (June 14)

Travellers between Sicamous and Golden should take extra precautions today as heavy rainfall and strong winds are forecasted.

Environment Canada has released a special weather statement for today (June 13) for the portion of Highway 1 between Rogers Pass and Eagle Pass. Rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms are expected for the region by late this afternoon, with winds gusting to 60 km/h.

A cold front is is sweeping across the province today, and high winds are likely to continue from now until Wednesday (June 14) for the Interior and the North and South Thompson regions.

Environment Canada advises that weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
