Lake levels peak

Unless mother nature throws a hard curve ball, it’s all over but the drying.

Shuswap Lake crested Saturday night at 348.67 metres – just below the one-in-five-year flood return level. By 5 a.m. Monday, the level was 348.62 m.

“Mother nature has co-operated,” said Shuswap Emergency Plan co-ordinator Cliff Doherty. “She brought us a higher snow pack than normal, but since it arrived she has been co-operating by bringing cooler weather and moderating the rate of snow pack melt.”

Doherty says he is comfortable in saying, “that should be that for this year.”
