Chase RCMP have finished their investigation into the fatal speed boat-houseboat collision that occurred a year ago in Magna Bay.

Sgt. Troy Beauregard of Chase RCMP has been expecting a news release to be distributed stating that the RCMP are recommending charges against the driver of the speed boat.

The recommendation will be handled by Crown Counsel in Kamloops, who will determine if there is enough evidence to proceed. The speed boat and houseboat crashed on July 3, 2010 as boats were leaving the bay in Shuswap Lake following the annual Canada Day weekend fireworks display. The speedboat ended up embedded inside the houseboat.

Killed in the crash was houseboat driver 53-year-old Kenny Brown of Chase.
