Police looking for missing 10-year-old

RCMP do not believe anything dangerous has befallen the boy, but that he ran away from home and is wandering somewhere in city.

Salmon Arm RCMP are out looking Friday afternoon for a missing 10-year-old boy.

Police do not believe anything dangerous has befallen the boy, but that he ran away from home.

"That being said, he is wandering and we do not know where he is, so we, of course, want to be sure he is safe. We are hoping to get his description out so that we can get tips from the public as to his whereabouts," says Staff Sgt. Scott West of the Salmon Arm RCMP.

The boy was last seen late this morning, Friday, Aug. 12 at a bus shelter in uptown Salmon Arm near the corner of 30th Street NE and 10th Ave. NE.

He is five feet tall with brown hair about six inches long. The boy is wearing a yellow and purple L.A. Lakers hat, a red plaid long-sleeved shirt and has a yellow and black Cheerios backpack.

In addition to on the ground police resources, RCMP are using a police helicopter, which was already in the area, to help search for the boy.
