Damage to 3 vehicles in Vernon Square lot

UPDATE:

One person has died following a multi-vehicle crash in a parking lot Wednesday morning.

A Volkswagen Jetta crossed through the Vernon Square parking lot around 7 a.m. Aug. 30 and stopped after colliding with two parked vehicles, both of which were unoccupied.

“The driver, and lone occupant of the Jetta, lost consciousness shortly after the crash. Efforts to resuscitate the driver were unsuccessful and they were pronounced deceased at the scene,” said Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski.

Criminality is not suspected and the BC Coroners Service is conducting their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the person’s death.

No other injuries were reported.

At least three vehicles sustained major damage in a parking lot crash Wednesday morning.

Tow trucks and RCMP were at the Vernon Square lot, near White Spot, around 10 a.m.

A Volkswagen sedan appears to have possibly collided with a parked car, while there is damage to another car.

Vehicles with severe damage, being held together with duct tape, were towed away from the scene.
