On Monday, Oct 16, Joan Popovich and Ginny Bennett did a presentation to the Keremeos Village Council on the history of the Canadian Royal Purple Society since it came into existence in 2014.

After the presentation about what the local chapter is doing, Bennett presented Mayor Jason Wiebe with a Purple Thursday T-shirt.

On the third Thursday in October, Purple Thursday was recognized right across Canada. Purple Thursday is a day to raise awareness about the intersection between brain injury and interpersonal violence with the goal of eliminating it.

Canadian Royal Purple Society (CRP) has adopted brain injury as their official cause.

The local chapter of the Royal Purple Society has partnered with the Keremeos RCMP and will supply them with bags to carry in their cruisers. Each bag will be given to a woman who has had to leave her home in a hurry to flee domestic violence, said Ginny.

Each bag contains enough essentials to carry her through for the next few days.
