The Sicamous branch of the Salmon Arm Savings and Credit Union (SASCU) was temporarily closed on Aug. 9 after a car backed through the front entrance of the branch, shattering the glass.

No staff or members of the credit union were injured in the accident.

RCMP officers attended the scene but ruled it an accident and charges are not being considered.

The branch opened for business as usual on Aug. 10.

“Staff are back at work everyone is fine, were working on the front doors just to get them secure. Right now they’re covered in wood but we’ll replace them as soon as we get the glass ordered,” said Julie Langham, SASCU’s VP Sales.

The branch has no bollards to prevent vehicles from hitting the front entrance. Langham said the possibility of installing bollards hadn’t been addressed yet.
