Alexandra "Sasha" Jackson, nee Cochkanoff, died peacefully on March 14, 2018 in Salmon Arm, BC at the age of 91.
Sasha was born on March 2, 1927 in Calgary, AB, the second of five children born to Joachim and Barbara (Dournovo) Cochkanoff. In 1948 she married Robert Jackson, son of Archie and Lili Jackson of North Vancouver, BC. Sasha and Robert had four children in the next few years.
In 1962 Robert died in an accident, leaving his wife and children devastated. Sasha went back to school and began teaching two years later. During this time, she and her four children were baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She taught school in BC and AB until her retirement in 1985.
Sasha lived on her own until she was almost 90, enjoying good health and the company of family and friends. She enjoyed art, word games and Sudoku puzzles and was a captivating story teller. She loved making beautiful baby quilts to give as gifts. She was an avid Bible student to the end of her life.
Sasha was predeceased by her husband, Robert; sons-in-law, Leonard Egolf and Philip Raney; sister-in-law, Florence Cochkanoff; brothers-in-law, Donald Nettles and Clayton Fanslow; sister, Irene Nettles; and brother, Orest Cochkanoff.
She is survived by her son, Raymond (Marion) Jackson of Chase, BC; daughters, Barbara Raney of Clavet, SK, Kathryn Egolf of Lacombe, AB and Sylvia (George) Haines of Kelowna, BC; sisters, Helen Fanslow of Missoula, MT and Anna Gandossi of North Vancouver, BC; and her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family is grateful for the kind and loving care that our mother received at the Piccadilly Care Centre in Salmon Arm BC. She is at peace now, resting in Jesus.
A memorial service will be held in Salmon Arm at a later date.
