Annie Martin passed away peacefully at Piccadilly Care Center, Salmon Arm, BC on May 31, 2011 at the age of 90 years.

Born in Nakusp, BC and raised in the small community of Arrow Park, Annie moved to Revelstoke to find employment. It was there she met and married her husband, Don, in 1940. As newlyweds they came to Salmon Arm where Don had been born and raised. They settled in a residence on Martin Road where his parents and two brothers already resided.

Annie and Don then purchased an acreage beside the Salmon Arm Golf Course where they operated a small farm and raised four children.

In 1956 a new home was built which still stands beside the Podollan Inn. Together they operated “Don’s Engine Repair”, grew a huge garden with many rows of gladioli, many buckets of fruit and vegetables which were enjoyed by family and friends.

Cancer took Don’s life in November 1990, ten days after their 50th anniversary. Annie remarried a life time family friend in 2002 but was widowed again in 2004. She was also predeceased by her brother Alex in 1993.

Annie leaves her loving family, sons, Don of Kamloops, Ken (Donna) of Coronach, Sask, daughters, Lydia (Wilf) Blain of Salmon Arm, Heather (Peter) Soerensen of Assiniboia, Sask; 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and her sister Gladys (Bob) Pickering of Nelson.

No service by request. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Box 3451, Salmon Arm, BC. VIE 4S2 in memory of Annie.

A memorial tea was held from the home of Lydia and Wilf Blain, # 106, 3350 10th avenue. N.E. Salmon Arm, (Evergreen Mobile Home Park) on Sunday afternoon, June 5th, from 2 – 4 p.m.
