We are sad to announce that Audrey passed away peacefully, with family present, on December 24, 2018. Audrey Thorpe (nee Gibson) was born in Netherhill, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1996 and children William, Robert and John in 1961. She is survived by her sister Joan, children Patricia, James and Heather, 8 grand children and 1 great grand child.

Audrey moved with her husband and family to Salmon Arm in 1973 and worked as a teacher part time until retiring in 1990. Audrey was well known in the community for her volunteer work at public skating registration, Silverbacks hockey games, curling events, seniors' centers, and assisting with seniors shopping. She was given a Queens' Jubilee Medal for her volunteerism in 2002 and continued volunteering until shortly before her passing.

Audrey was famous for her buns and often made her "bun runs" supplying her neighbours in her strata complex at Christmas. She also loved her roses and used them to brighten the days of many.

An open house celebrating Audrey's life will be held at the Seniors' 5th Avenue Resource Center in Salmon Arm on Saturday, January 5th, 2018 from 1 to 4 pm.

Donations in Audrey's memory may be made to a charity of your choice or the Kamloops Hospice Association.
