June 9, 1936 - January 27, 2019
On January 27, 2019 Barbara Alice Charko was ushered into the presence of her Lord with her loving family at her side at Bastion Place, Salmon Arm, British Columbia at age of 82 after a long battle with dementia.

Barb was born June 9, 1936 in Toronto, Ontario to Edith and Reginald Moore. She was predeceased by her parents, brother, Richard Moore, first husband, Bernard Closs and second husband, Julian Charko. Barb is survived by her daughters, Leslie Closs (Rainier, AB), Leah Closs (Calgary, AB), Laura Smith (Salmon Arm, BC), Julie Closs (Salmon Arm, BC), granddaughter, Nicole Palmer (Atlanta, GA) and grandson, Austin Woehr (Rainier, AB).

Barb was raised in Kingston, Ontario where she met her first husband, Bernard Closs and where they also raised their 4 daughters. Barb lived 23 years in Calgary, Alberta before relocating to Salmon Arm, British Columbia where she resided the last 15 years of her life. During her years in Calgary, Barb worked as an office administrator for various companies before retiring in at the age of 55.

Barb was loved by all who knew her and her greatest attribute was her kind and generous spirit as she thrived on giving to others. Barb was active in her community and enjoyed spending time with her family.

The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at Bastion Place for their care of Barb this past 3 1/2 years.

This spring a Celebration of Life will be held in Kingston, Ontario where she will be buried beside her husband, Bernard Closs. No service will be held in Salmon Arm, BC.
