In Loving Memory (1946-2024) ~

Colleen Patricia Madsen passed away March 1, 2024, at the age of 77 after a 2-year battle with ALS. She will be missed dearly by her children, Dawn and Dean (Kim) Madsen; grandsons, Owen and Wyatt; her brother, Lawrie O'Dwyer (Kelly) and many friends.

Colleen was born in 1946 in Vancouver but was raised in Lytton, BC where the O'Dwyer family was well-known and respected. She moved to Kamloops where she met and married Glenn Madsen (who passed away in April, 2023). They lived in Kamloops for a short period of time before moving to Eagle Bay where she formed many lifelong friendships.

Colleen worked for the local school district as a school secretary for most of her career before retiring 15 years ago.

In 2014, Colleen and Glenn moved to Penticton to be closer to family. She loved watching all of her grandsons' sports and was their #1 fan in the stands. She enjoyed volunteering at the SOS Cafe in the Penticton General Hospital where she made many close friends. (Rumour has it she made a mean latte).

Her final year was spent in the Hamlets where the staff gave her such loving care. Family was everything to Colleen and she touched all who knew her with her generous and caring Irish spirit.

In lieu of flowers, those who want to remember Colleen may consider donating to the ALS Society of BC.
