With sadness we announce the passing of Dianne Louise Smith in Vernon on January 5, 2019. She succumbed 4 months to the day after being diagnosed with cancer. Dianne was born in Vancouver in 1947, attended the Vancouver School of Art, majoring in sculpture. Later she became a registered nurse and worked in Vernon and Salmon Arm. Since retiring, she devoted herself to singing in various choirs in the area, serving as librarian for the Aura Chamber Choir until recently, gardening, growing sempervivum, and playing with her beloved dog, Juno.
She is survived by her older sisters Leanne Phillips (husband Ian, sons Michael and Ryan), Joanne Hawthorne (husband Bill, daughters Laura (husband Rob), Kathryn (son Xavier), sons David and Ted (deceased), also her long time friend Chuck Gleave and his family, Wesa (deceased), Danica, Anna, Sarah and Tom and their spouses and children, all of whom Dianne just loved to bits.
We will all miss her sense of humour and her sharp wit.
