Eileen Helen Smith passed away in Windermere Care Center on February 15, 2024.
Eileen was born in Silver Creek on December 11, 1928 to parents George Needham and Margaret Merrell. Eileen had many fond memories of growing up in Silver Creek with family and friends. Eileen remained in the Valley until the late 1970s before moving to Vancouver.
Eileen enjoyed travelling with friends, bingo and the casino and had many years volunteering at St. Marys hall for events. Eileen lived a full and healthy life with many friendships along the way.
Eileen was predeceased by her daughter Geraldine Grimm, brothers Arley, Richard, Bill, Patrick, James, George, and Gordon, Sisters Margaret, Ellen, Mabel and Mrytle.
Eileen is survived by her son Gordon Smith of Salmon Arm, daughter Linda Thodeson (Robin) of Port Coquitlam, son-in-law Gerald Grimm of Francois Lake, grandchildren Donna Veld (John), Corrie Cook, Christine Lucas (Gordon), great grandchildren, Braden, Sarah, Emma, Riley and Noah, as well as her nieces and nephews, Dale Needham, Marion Frances, Myron Scott, Marilyn deBruijn, Janet Palmer, Ron Henderson and other relatives.
Eileen's wishes were to be cremated and buried in a simple manner.
