With great sadness and heavy hearts our beloved Mom, Granny, Great Granny decided she needed to join Dad.

Elsie was a grand lady and a little energizer bunny who just kept going after Ed’s passing in 1993.

Elsie was born in Lethbridge, Alberta to John and Clara Hall, one of six. Growing up on the farm in Lyalta Alberta, made her a tough little lady. After finishing school she attended Olds College. Her

first job was governess for the Manager of Banff Springs Hotel caring for his 2 children. She joined the RCAF in 1942 where she became a cook.

She met Sgt. Edward Stevenson while being stationed in Trenton, Ontario. They married April 27, 1944 and spent their honeymoon travelling across Canada to Alberta with a train load of soldiers so

Ed could meet the family.

After the War, with their first, Donald, born in 1946, they moved west to buy a hotel in Pitt Lake, BC. From there they moved back to Vancouver, where daughter Patricia arrived in 1950. They then ventured to Kelsey Bay on Vancouver Island in 1952, along came Judith in 1954 and Valerie in 1956.

Mom and Dad moved us all to Chemainus, BC in 1957 where Dad drove offroad logging truck for MacMillan and Bloedel till his retirement in 1976. They sold the family home and retired to Cassidy and then Nanaimo. Their first trip in retirement was to visit daughter Patricia in Germany. This was the start of a great time of travel, camping, boat cruises and 10 years of spending winters in Apache Junction Arizona with friends and family. May 1993 saw them move to Salmon Arm, BC to be with daughters, Pat, Judy and families.

Mom kept busy all her life with gardening, Legion Ladies Auxillary (Chemainus), and a volunteer for many years with Monday Morning Shopping for the Salmon Arm’s Senior Resource Center.

Elsie leaves to cherish her memory – son Don (Lorraine) Port Hardy, BC, daughters Pat (Don McDonald) and Judy (Mark Pennell) both of Salmon Arm, daughter Val Harper (Mark Allan) Union Bay, BC. She was a wonderful caring Granny to Derrick (Donna), Mike (Shawna), Jessy-Ann (Matt),

Megan (Kyle), Stacey (Tim), Ashley (Kyle) and Great Granny to seven great grandsons and one great granddaughter.

She will be missed by her only surviving sister, Edith McIntyre, White Rock, BC and her many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Malinowski for all her years of wonderful care of Mom, and to the staff at Piccadilly Terrace and staff and nurses at Piccadilly Care.

In lieu of flowers please donate to BCSPCA (Shuswap) or Seniors Resource Center Salmon Arm.
