We regret to announce the passing of Elsa Margareta Schoepp, known to all of us as Elsie Ulmer. She left us all peacefully on the morning of Thurs., Aug. 25, 2016. Elsie lived a long and productive 99 years and was predeceased by her husband George, infant son Jackie and adult daughter Anna, among many other important people in her life. The legacy she has created include her children Bob (Sylvia), Marlene, Sue (Garth) and Richard (Roberta), 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Elsie was born on Mar. 13, 1917, the oldest daughter in a large farming family of twelve children, in Stony Plain, Alta. Elsie worked hard and took great care of her siblings until the day she met George and became his wife on Nov. 8, 1936 in Wembley, Alta. George and Elsie built their lives with George working as a cat skinner in various locations throughout Alta and BC. They retired to Salmon Arm after developing and operating the Magna Bay Resort in partnership with Ron and Marlene.

Elsie was a strong and determined woman who even obtained her first drivers license at the age of 76. After George passed in 1994 she lived many years on her own tending to her garden of beautiful plants, sewing for her family and the needy and continuing to cook her traditional dishes. She moved to Piccadilly Terrace then to the Piccadilly care home until she finally decided to let go and move on from this life.

We, her family, will always mourn her absence from our lives but are happy she is free from the encumbrances of these last few years, and invite anyone who knew her or was lucky enough to have her in their life to join us for her funeral service at the Deo Lutheran Church on Wed., Aug. 31 at 11 a.m., a luncheon will follow and then we will move to the Mt Ida Cemetery for the interment.

Elsie did request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to:
