In Loving Memory ~

A beautiful person with a beautiful soul, Fern Maureen Poag, a.k.a. "Sue" went to be with her heavenly father on December 20, 2023, after a valiant and courageous battle with dementia. She was 77 years of age.

Maureen was born in Vancouver, BC on May 5th, 1946, to Samuel and Helen Bateman.

She completed her education degree at Simon Fraser University and worked as a primary school teacher for many years, a job she loved. She married Dennis Poag in 1973 in Williams Lake BC. As Dennis was in the RCMP, they also lived in Kelowna, Ottawa, and St. Albert. They enjoyed their retirement years on Adams Lake, BC.

She made the world a better place. She was a bright star and brought light wherever she went. She was always encouraging and thought of others rather than herself.

She was a living example of Jesus' love and her children were so blessed to have had her for the time they did. When she was well, she volunteered her time to Sunday School, Pioneer Girls, Church plays other endeavors.

She loved to have fun and could be found planning a party or holding a super soaker. She also enjoyed travelling with family and good friends.

She will be immensely missed by her husband of 50 years, Dennis, as well as her three children, Tina (Nathan), Jon (Pam), Jolene (John) and grandchildren, Autumn, Taitumn, Eli, Alisha, Mattea, Tavin, Kate and Luke.

She will also be missed by her two older brothers, Bill (Lynda) and Wayne (Jenny), cousins, Marge( Ron), and many nieces and nephews whom she loved greatly.

Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many friends who supported her through this journey in addition to the staff at Mount Ida Mews and Shuswap General hospital for their kindness and compassionate care.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 1:00 pm at North Shuswap Christian Fellowship.
