Florence (Smith) Dearing passed away in Shuswap Lake General Hospital on Monday, February 17th, 2020, after a very brief illness, at the age of 89.
Flo was born in Walhachin, BC on December 30th, 1930. She married Lorne in 1951 and, after briefly living in Prince George and Kamloops, they moved to Lorne's hometown of Salmon Arm to work, raise their family and enjoy a long retirement. Flo is well remembered for her many years serving customers at Beer's Dept. Store. After Lorne's death in 2013, Flo opted for retirement living, very much enjoying the company of residents and staff, first at Shuswap Lodge and finally at Mt. Ida Mews.
Predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Lorne, and her son Barry, Flo was the last remaining sibling from a family of thirteen. She is survived by her son Terry, daughter-in-law Nadina; grandchildren Tanya (Jason), Kyle and Drew; great-grandchildren Caiden and Liam; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, March 8th in the chapel at Bowers Funeral Home with a reception to follow.
Memorial donations may be sent c/o Bowers Funeral Home to contribute to the installation of a plaque in memory of Flo and Lorne at Shuswap Memorial Cemetery.
