Florence Moore passed away at Bastion Place, Salmon Arm, BC on Friday September 30, 2011 at the age of 105 years. Florence leaves her loving family, sister Helen, nephews, Laurie (Liz), James, Brian (Patricia), and nieces, Bonnie (Gerry), Cheryl (Larry), Louise (Mel), Evelyn, Georgina (Cecil), Janet, Barbara (Vinaud), Linda and Sheila (Carmello), 14 grand nephews, 20 grand nieces, 26 great grand nephews and 29 great grand nieces.
Florence was born on May 2, 1906 at the Shuswap, near Chase BC to Isaac and Cora Alice Florence Moore( nee Harris). Florence was raised on the family farm in TurtleVally, BC and attended school in Chase Creek. When Florence was approximately 28 years of age, she left the family farm and went to cook for her brother James’ sawmill crew, in Yankee Flats, BC. Shortly after she worked at Huntley’s farm at Silver Creek, before moving to Kelowna BC where she was employed in a fruit cannery. From there she worked in Vernon, BC at the same time as her sister, Helen, who was also working in the Vernon area.
Florence became a Christian Minister, where she practiced and preached her religion in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario for many years.
Due to health conditions she had to leave the Ministry and retired in Chase, BC in a community housing complex for many years. Due to a fall she moved to Parkside Estates in Chase, BC where she resided with her sister, Helen.
Due to another fall, Florence had a hip replacement in Kamloops Hospital and from there she was moved to Bastion Place in Salmon Arm, where she resided until the date of her death. Many thank to the nurses for her excellent care.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Bastion Place in Florence’s name or to the charity of ones choice.
A funeral service will be held at Chase Community Hall on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 10:30 a.m.
