Gary was born in Vancouver, BC on December 22, 1938. He moved to Salmon Arm with his family in 1948. Throughout his life Gary lived in many communities around BC, including Kamloops, Salmon Arm, Kelowna, Vernon and Vancouver. Gary struggled with mental illness throughout his adult life, which had developed in his teenage years. Gary enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a very keen sense of humour and loved to tease his sisters, nieces and nephews. He always had a funny story, rhyme, or joke to tell, and liked to make people laugh.

Gary loved to get out and socialize and quickly established favorite hang-outs and coffee shops in each new community he lived. In Salmon Arm you would often find him at Choices enjoying a cup of coffee, Mainprize Second-Hand Store browsing, or visiting with Danny Unterschultz at the barber shop. He was very generous with his friends and family and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need.

The family would like to express its sincere appreciation for the support the community showed Gary during his years in Salmon Arm.

Gary is predeceased by his mother, Gladys Greaves on April 9, 2008.

Gary is survived by his loving family, father, Les Greaves of Salmon Arm, sisters, Linda (Dave) Belway of Salmon Arm, Shirley Edwards of Coquitlam, aunt Mabel White of Burnaby, many nieces and nephews.
