In loving memory ~
If I can let you go as the trees let go
Lose what I lose to keep what I can keep
The strong root still alive under the snow
Love will endure - if I can let you go
- May Sarton
Our mom passed away peacefully in her 95th year on the evening of Wednesday, December 7th, 2022. She was born in Benalto, Alberta, on her grandma's farm to John and Maime Keskinen.
She was predeceased by sisters Marlene and Mildred. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Duncan. Mom is survived by her three children Greg (Tara), Brian (Jan) and Heidi, her grandchildren Katie, Jared, Michael, Jeremy, Hana, and Jesse and great-granddaughter Isla. As well as Patricia Shantz.
Happy memories of early childhood in Sturdy, Ross Peak and Albert Canyon (learned to play tennis on a grass court) then Revelstoke and finally Canoe, graduating from Salmon Arm High School in 1946. Mom put in many hours at our baseball and hockey games as well as being the most adored cub scout leader. She was always the best cook, had a great eye for interior design as well as an accomplished artist.
Mom was of Finnish heritage, and she had the Finn "sisu" which we all admired. We are grateful for the care and support mom received from all the staff at Hillside Village. Thank you!
There will be a celebration of her life with family at a later date.
