A life well lived leaves it's gentle pattern on the hearts of all....and the world is a lovelier place because one person touched it with warmth, goodness and grace ~ unknown author
Hildegard was born in Delmenhorst, Germany in 1928 to Henrich and Anni; she was the second eldest of five children. In 1951 she married her sweetheart, Erwin. They were blessed with their first child in 1952. Hilde and Erwin immigrated to Canada in 1953 to start their new life in the Fraser Valley; here they were blessed with three more children. They became self-employed and worked hard on their farms where they raised their four children. In the late 70s they retired and moved to Scotch Creek.
Sadly in 1985 Hilde lost her beloved Erwin. Later Hilde returned to the Fraser Valley to Chilliwack. She became very involved with her church group, was involved with the ladies aide, sang in the choir, helped prepare and served lunch to the needy and enjoyed outings with the church's seniors group. Hilde found comfort in her religion and her long-time church friends who also were widowed.
Sadly in her later years, she was diagnosed with Alzheimers. When she was no longer able to manage in her own home, she was moved back to Salmon Arm. Hilde is survived by her four children and their spouses, Rainer (Chris), Rita (Bill), Karin (Fred), Don (Tamara), 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Many thanks to the staff at Hillside Good Samaritan for the comfort level she was given in her last few days.
If family & friends so wish, donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated.
