Mrs. Ivy Flanagan passed surrounded with loving care of her family in her daughter’s home in Canoe, BC on Wednesday evening, December 28, 2011 at the age of 96 years.

A Salmon Arm farewell service was held in the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home on Friday afternoon, December 30th at 2 p.m. with Jack Bowers the funeral celebrant, with interment following in the family plot in Pleasantview Cemetery Unity, Saskatchewan.

Born in Unity, Saskatchewan on November 12, 1915, Ivy was a lifelong resident of Unity. Having grown up on a farm, Ivy quickly learned what work was, the importance of making the most of what you have, and giving of yourself to help others. This belief continued with her long life, she was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother, being well remembered for her continued kindness to all.

She was predeceased by her husband, Fred in 1973, parents, Victor and Nellie Levaillant; sister, Annie; brothers, Richard and Frank.

Ivy is survived by her 5 children; Marilyn Flanagan (Don Serrenk) of Lamont, Alta, Robert (Doreen) of Unity, Morris (Margaret) of Unity, Doreen (Dave) Toebosch of Canoe, Sheila Loeffler (Tim Pfeiffer) of Perth, Australia; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Amy Duggleby of Kindersley, Sask, Lillian Girrard of Stony Plain, Alta; and brother, Len Levaillant of Penticton; numerous nieces and nephews.
