May 16, 1939 - Dec 30, 2017
James Daniel McLean "LX", died unexpectedly at home on December 30, 2017 in Salmon Arm, BC at the age of 78.

James "Jim" is survived by his wife Georgina "Jo" McLean; sister, Linda Therien (nee McLean); sons, Robert "Bob" McLean, Richard "Dick" McLean; and daughter, Regina "Gina" Settle (nee McLean).

James was born on May 16, 1939 in Winnipeg, MB to John and Agnes McLean (nee Daniel).  Jim graduated from Kitsilano High School in 1957 and married Georgina "Jo" in 1962.

After marriage, Jim and Jo lived in various locations until they settled in Surrey, BC in 1967.  Over the course of 8 years, the couple welcomed 3 children into their home; Robert, Richard, and Regina.

Jim worked as a banker at Scotiabank for 6 years, then trained with the Government of Canada and became an Air Traffic Controller for the next 28 years until retirement.

He was a straight shooter with a great sense of humour and strong family values.

He was always part of the kids' concerts, performances, sports, and hobbies.  You could usually see him sneaking up with his fancy camera gear to capture the best photos of all the special moments.

Jim was a bit of a social butterfly, with many interests and groups of friends.  He was an avid outdoorsman, photographer, golfer, and bridge player.  He always had time to stop and chat and was never too busy to give out free hugs.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Bowers Funeral Home, 440 10th St SW, Salmon Arm, BC with a reception following the service.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jim's life.
