John Daniel Ford

October 20, 2007

It is with great sadness we must give up John to our Lord. John (Jack) as he liked to be called passed away peacefully with family at his side at Shuswap Lake Hospital on Oct 20th 2007 at the age of 79. Jack was born September 12, 1928 in Grosse Pointe Michigan. The family had moved from England to the U.S. in the 1920’s however, during depression the family not yet naturalized U.S. citizens, decided to return to England.

Jack grew up in England through the 1930’s and 40’s, upon leaving school Jack apprenticed as an electrician. Jack joined the RAF in 1946, serving in England the newly formed Pakistan and India, being released in 1949. In 1948 Jack met the cornerstone of his life; Jack and Irene were married September 22nd, 1951 and were inseparable. Rarely is a partnership so complete. In 1953 Jack and Irene moved from England to Vancouver B.C.

Before settling down Jack and Irene spent nine years traveling, enjoying life and exploring their new home. In the early 60’s Jack and Irene settled down to raise their family. Jack worked in the manufacturing sector for 30 years and Real Estate for 10 years. In 1992 Jack and Irene moved to Blind Bay to retire and enjoy the better things in life.

Jack is lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Irene, sons David (Donna), & Christopher (Tracy), sisters Josie (Paul) and Theresa. Along the way Jack met friends that became family, best friend Larry (Mary) friend & son Dan (Candy). Jack was predeceased by; his father John, mother Mary and brother Arthur.

Many things can describe Jack but most of all it would be love of his family. Jack had a quick wit and had a wonderful sense of humor. His happiest times where always when he was surrounded by friends and family.

No formal service is being held at Jack’s request, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The Family would like to thank everyone who was at our sides during this difficult time.
