Kathleen Margaret Milledge (nee Stewart) had a life well lived, passing away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at the age of 90.
Kathleen was born in Vancouver, BC on November 9, 1929 and grew up in Kerrisdale. She worked as both Nurse and Stewardess, then married Jack Milledge in 1954, moving to Regina circa 1964 and finally to Salmon Arm in 1978.
Kathleen had a passion for active living starting in her teens as a lifeguard. She was an avid swimmer, skier, canoeist and hiker with her fondest memories of back country hiking with her brother Allan. Along with playing bridge with friends, her passion for gardening was strong, evident in the amazing gardens around her home. She worked as a nurse wherever she was, from Pasqua Hospital in Regina, to Shuswap Lake General Hospital, then finally as a volunteer at Sunnybrae Bible Camp, where she was affectionately known to campers as Needles.
Kathleen is survived by her older sister Beatrice and five children Duncan (Andrea), Tish (Robert), Susan (Spence), Gord and Doug (Tiffany); ten grandchildren Jamie, Jonna, Rachel, Anthony, Jocelyn, Stefanie, Brandon, Ian, Bodhi and Elizabeth; six great grand children Marin, Beck, Shaun, Rowan, Charlotte, William and many nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to her as Auntie Kay.
A special Thank You to Dr. Aitchison, Ria at Ackerview Guesthouse, all the Palliative Care workers and the Hospice Society for their care of mum over the past months. She will be lovingly remembered by her many friends and family.
For our family, it is very difficult to say goodbye to the first person we ever loved. Bye Mom, love you more!
