On October 07, 2020 Kathrine (Kay) Blank (nee Thiessen) passed away peacefully at the age of 92.
Kay was born on August 29th, 1928 in Rosenthal Chortitza, Russia to John Thiessen and Anna Peters. Kay was predeceased by her husband Werner, son Roy, her brother Jacob and sisters Anna and Helen. Kathrine is survived by several nephews and nieces.
Kay immigrated to Canada with her family first settling in Yarrow B.C and then embarked on her own to live in Vancouver ,B.C.
Kay met the love of her life, Werner, at the Alpen club in Vancouver, married, and had a son Roy. They decided to pursue a more simple life , bought property and built a cabin in the remote wilderness around Birkenhead Lake. Kay loved being in the outdoors and would often spend hours hiking the trails in the mountains around this area. Their only son passed away tragically when Kay and her husband decided to relocate to Armstrong, where her husband passed.
Kay moved to Salmon Arm which she truly loved, and would spend the remaining days of her life. Kathrine was very private, tenacious and had a independent spirit.
A service will be held at Oceanview Cemetery at a later date.
