January 20, 1945 - September 14, 2018
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leonard Samuel Molberg, beloved father and grandfather, at Shuswap Lake General Hospital at age 73.

Len was born at home on the farm near Midale, SK. to Lillian (Flury) and John Molberg, and big brother, John Lyle. When Lillian died suddenly the following year, young Lenny moved to town with his grandparents. He was a gifted student and obtained a B.Ed. at the University of Saskatchewan. He taught school in Lethbridge, Rosetown and Yellow Grass. Together with his wife, Shirley, they raised two children in Weyburn, SK., where Len changed careers and was a service technician for Pitney Bowes for 18 years. They were both active community leaders and Len served two terms as a school board trustee. In 2000, they followed the kids to Calgary where Len took a job teaching again; this time, mathematics at SAIT. When Shirley passed away in 2010, Len retired to lake life and the slower pace of Salmon Arm.

Len's legacy is one of generosity, humour, sharing knowledge and standing up for what he believed in. He was unassuming, yet the smartest person in any room. He could quote you Tennyson, then fix your furnace and teach you chemistry; drawing diagrams on whatever paper or napkin was handy. He was an inventor and tinkerer; building new gadgets and always making improvements to anything store-bought. The arts were also important to him and he was a beautiful singer. His unexpected passing leaves a great hole in our hearts.

Len's memory lives on with his son, John (Melissa) of Calgary, daughter Mitzy (Lewis) Frere of Three Hills, AB; three grandkids, Jack, Finn and Sammy; brother, John Lyle (Margaret) of Biggar, SK; niece Wendy (Michael) Bourassa and family of Salmon Arm; niece Darcie (Tim) Hammond and family of Biggar; nephew Dave (Tamara) and family of Biggar; and numerous friends and cousins. A celebration of Len's life will be held March 9, 2019 in Calgary.
