LESLIE RONALD SCHLEY

1928 - 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Leslie Schley in Bastion Place, July 10, 2011. He was born in Wapella, Sask. on Oct. 18, 1928, the fourth eldest of ten children.

Leslie was predeceased by his parents Milo & Grace (Walsh) Schley, brother Lloyd of Port Alberni, three sisters Thelma (Ralph) Simpson of Alberta, Alice (Al) Hopkins of Port Alberni and Dorothea in infancy.

Leslie spent ten years in the R.C.N. as an air fitter on H.M.C.S. Magnificent, H.M.C.S. Boniventure & U.S. Valley Forge. Leslie is survived by his loving wife Dorothy of 57 years, brothers Charles Schley of Qualicum, BC, Allan (May) of Parksville, BC, Beverly of Victoria, BC, sisters Lillian of Edmonton, AB and Shirley (Don) of Port Alberni, son Richard (Desiree) Schley, daughter Cynthia (Tom) Favell, four grandchildren Dennis, Stephanie, Jennifer Treat, Taylor (Holly) Schley, three great grandchildren Justice & Georgia Schley and Taylen Treat. Also five step grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. No service by request. Family and friends are invited to an informal tea to celebrate Leslie’s life on July 22, 2011 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Schley residence, 281 Hudson St. NW, Salmon Arm. Memorial donations in Leslie’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Box 3451, Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4S2 or the Shuswap Hospice Society, Box 967, Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4P1.
