In Loving Memory ~

Loretta was born in Salmon Arm and lived throughout her childhood in Scotch Creek. She attended North Shuswap School from grade 1-12, and then started her first adventure when she moved to Vancouver to take her teacher training at UBC. Loretta taught for 33 years in Coquitlam.

She always loved the outdoors and especially loved hiking, camping, canoeing and photography. Loretta married Tom in 1976 and they enjoyed a life filled with adventure, travelling extensively around the world.

They retired to the Shuswap (the home of her parents Karl and Dorothy Zinck) in 2001 and were immediately immersed in the local community. Their home was full of collectables and souvenirs, and Loretta was full of anecdotes of their adventures. She was involved in many organizations in her community, such as the North Shuswap Community Association and Historical Society.

Loretta and Tom reconstructed historic cabins and created "T&L Reflections-A Little Museum" in 2003. She was an avid historian, earning an award from the BC Historical Federation in 2010.

Predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Tom, and siblings Rita, Netta and Roger, Loretta leaves behind her sister Norma, brother Tom and numerous nieces and nephews.

Loretta passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Her dedication, generosity and sense of community will be remembered by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20th at the Celista Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Loretta Zinck Greenough Fund at Shuswap Community Foundation or to the North Shuswap Historical Society.
