MILLINGTON, MARK S.

August 24, 1926 - January 16, 2009

Mark was born in North Vancouver on August 24, 1926, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Salmon Arm at Shuswap Lake General Hospital on January 16, 2009.

Mark will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Vivian (nee Hollis); his five children, Jeanette, Jim, Elizabeth, Sam (Grace) and Heather (Verne). Grandchildren, Jason (Stephanie), Deanne, David, Douglas, Alisha, Kianna, Hailey and Gage. Great grandchildren, Cole and Lane. Sisters, Edith Beaudry, Betty Curley and Lois Millington and numerous nieces and nephews, and his dog - Mandy,

Predeceased by his son David, father Samuel, mother Lillian, sisters Irene and Norma; Jeanettte’s husband Mel Stewart, Jim’s wife, Denise (nee Maxwell) and his little sweetheart - Amy (dog).

In his early teens Mark was a logger on the BC coast; in the mid 40’s was enlisted for training during WW II-never saw combat and returned to logging; in the mid 60’s moved to the lower mainland where he owned and operated an apartment block; moved to the Kootenay’s in the early 70’s where he farmed, logged and was a general contractor - backhoe operator. In 2004 Mark and Viv semi-retired to Sicamous, BC where they made many new friends and he continued to do odd jobs with his backhoe until he was 80.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. J. Wood and Dr. C. Main along with the nursing staff of the Shuswap Lake General Hospital and a very special Thank You to Cheryl Bawtree, his chemotherapy nurse.
