In Loving Memory ~
Michael Kevin Ogino was born on July 19, 1961 in Vancouver, BC. His parents, Naomi and Eugene Ogino were living with his older sister in Lillooet, where Gene was a teacher. After his brother Brett was born the family moved to Salmon Arm where Mike would live for the rest of his life.
Mike participated in many different sports while growing up and he was an avid bowler, taking home many trophies. He enjoyed taking part in volunteer efforts and held his own raffles to raise money for various charities including the Variety Club.
Mike graduated from Salmon Arm High School in 1981. After school Mike continued to work for the Downtown Askew's grocery store where he had started as work experience. Mike was a well-known and liked employee, helping customers with their groceries and bringing back the shopping carts. He worked at the store for over 20 years.
Mike was an avid golfer and spent many years on the Salmon Arm Golf Course where he was a member. He continued golfing until 2019, touring the many courses throughout the area and outside Canada.
Michael passed away after a brief illness on September 1, 2023 at Shuswap Lake General Hospital.
He leaves behind his loving mother Naomi and his brother Brett, sister-in-law Vivian as well as cousins, aunts and an uncle.
Mike was pre-deceased by his father Eugene Ogino, his sister Tracy Sawatzky and her husband Rod.
The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to all the caregivers Mike had over the years. They helped make Mike's home life happy and comfortable.
