Myron Dale Reise, 87, passed away peacefully at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC on October 27, 2023. Myron was most recently a resident of the Piccadilly Terrace Retirement Home in Salmon Arm, BC. Born in Burtonsville, Alberta on August 13, 1936, to Harold and Christine Reise, Myron lived in a number of small Alberta towns as his father established his blacksmithing trade. After attending Camrose Lutheran High School in Camrose, AB in the 1950's, Myron joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and began his training in electronics and communications. After an initial period of military service, Myron re-enlisted in the R.C.A.F. shortly after meeting and marrying his wife Eleanor Penner in 1958.
While serving in the Air Force, Myron travelled to Florida with Eleanor and their two eldest children, where he continued to learn his trade in military electronics. The first three of their children were all born on air force bases, with the youngest two children arriving after Myron had left military service to begin his civilian career. Myron's outstanding 25-year career with BC Tel began in 1970 in Nelson, BC, with later stops in Dawson Creek and finally in Kamloops. Myron was proud of the pioneering and innovative teamwork he was involved in during the early years of his career in telecommunications and later marvelled at the new technology being incorporated at a pace he described as stunning.
Myron's favourite memories were of his family. He was predeceased by his wife Eleanor, who passed away in 2012, and his eldest child Myron (Patti), who passed away in 2021. Myron is survived by his children Christina (Calven) Garrett, Karen (Collins) Schmidt, Dwayne Reise, and Heather (Paul) Burry, and grandchildren Sam (Joanne Roberts), Cailey (James) Morrison, River, Jennifer Garrett, Joe (Grace Comeau), Isabelle Burry, Emily Burry, Lazarus, and Norah Burry, as well as by one great-grandchild, Brooks Morrison.
Myron was loved by all and known for his humility, intelligence, warmth, and humour. His keen sense of adventure and zest for new experiences are a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. Myron dearly enjoyed his family and friends--both old and new--and spoke positively about the other residents and staff at Piccadilly Terrace Retirement Home in Salmon Arm where he spent his final years.
