October 18, 1941 - July 28, 2018
After a long struggle with a degenerative illness, Ronald Everett Everest passed away peacefully on July 28, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hillside Village.

Born October 18, 1941 to Charles and Olive (Lefenko) Everest in Calgary, Ron's love of animals, motorcycles (7), and mischief began. A career in accounting eventually brought Ron and Irene to Salmon Arm. For over two decades, Ron took an active role as CFO for Salmon Arm Savings and Credit Union.

A hobby farm on Lyman Hill was the family home where Ron applied boundless energy and eagerly tackled absolutely any project, resorting to experts only when all else failed! After retirement, Ron also applied endless energy to early morning tracksetting at Larch Hills. Salmon Arm, being close to not just Larch Hills but also the Rockies and Bowron Lakes, was a dream location from which to organize groups for skiing, hiking, and canoeing, among other outdoor activities. This outgoing sportsman developed meaningful and supportive lifelong friendships through mentoring budding young outdoorsmen, notably Ziggy and Ahren Hofmann.

Ron is survived by: his wife of over 50 years Irene (Minich); daughter Terri-Jo and her daughter Pedra; son Tom (Michelle), and his daughter Arielle; brother Gordon (Martha); and sister Charlene.

Condolences can be forwarded through the Bowers Funeral Home website. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.

A celebration of life may be held at a later date.

Grateful thanks to all who cared for and supported Ron and his family; Dr. Guy De Wet, Harmony Haven staff, Stroke Recovery Group members, and especially Hillside Village staff and volunteers.
