Busy summer on many fronts

Salmon Arm is generally a bit quieter in the summer but not this year, the city has really been hopping with visitors and events every day.

So my question is ....

Do you have your tickets for the 24th Annual Roots and Blues festival August 19-21?

Harry and I have our passes and are looking forward to a weekend with friends enjoying great music, workshops and festival food.

The 2016 festival will host an incredible lineup of artists and workshops.

You don’t want to miss it so check their website at rootsandblues.ca for information and to purchase tickets online. It is going to be great.

Speaking of tickets and passes, I was talking to Troy Mick and he said the Silverbacks team roster is looking good.

We will see some of our favourite players returning and some excellent new members joining them. Yes, I know its summer so we are not really thinking about hockey but before you know it will be September.

On the business side, the City has some big projects on the go. The new cemetery construction began a couple months ago with completion estimated in late September.

Construction of Blackburn Park phase two is also underway with completion expected late this fall. Phase two will see a new soccer field, a spray park, life trail system, and new picnic shelter. More activities for families of all ages!

I am certain you have noticed all the real estate signs with sold stickers on them.

The brisk real estate market has spurred on the creation of new subdivisions and new homes being built.

I would like to add many of the new builds will have basement or detached suites which should help the rental accommodation needs of the community.

Enjoy your summer everyone, take in some of the events or just kick back and put your feet up.

See you in the fall.
