Residents young and old are invited to a meeting regarding the establishment of an Optimist Club from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2 at Old Town Cafe at 2698 Blind Bay Rd.

Clubs conduct scholarship programs, sports activities, mentoring programs, after-school programs and childhood cancer initiatives.

In South Shuswap, the new club will focus youth, but input from local leaders is sought to identify a specific need and purpose.
