Marathon of Hope celebrates 31 years

On Tuesday, April 12, it will be 31 years since a slender amputee from Port Coquitlam dipped his leg in the cold waters of St. John’s Harbour, and accompanied by his best friend Doug Alward, set off westerly across Canada in hopes of raising some funds to aid in the research for a cancer cure. Terry Fox could never have realized, nearly a third of a century later, that his single dream has developed into worldwide research to eliminate this horrid disease. Although Terry did not live to see his dream fulfilled, people by the thousands attend the annual Terry Fox Runs across Canada and around the world to raise funds for cancer research. Terry was a tremendous Canadian and a true hero.

We are so looking forward to seeing many of you at Blackburn Park on Sunday, Sept. 18 for the 31st Annual Terry Fox Run.

Cliff and Fran Evans,
