Perhaps Coun. Kevin Flynn should be less sensitive to certain words and more concerned about what would make people who are responsible enough to own homes and pay taxes so frustrated that they feel those words are accurate. I know that I am sensitive to the fact that it will cost me much more than when I looked after the garbage and recycling myself. I am sensitive to the fact that system is not convenient, I cannot choose the time or day that would suit me, I still have to take many recyclables to the depot, I could just as well take it all, as I’ve done up to now.

As for the claim “most are not opposed,” what proof do you have of that? Give us the chance to opt out of the system – or a referendum (you could include a ballot with the tax notice).

I also dislike the misuse of the word “provide” in your glossy, full-colour flyer (how much did that cost?). You are not providing a system, you are imposing a system that I don’t want, don’t need and don’t want to pay for, and yet it is added in my taxes.

I am in favour of reducing, reusing and recycling, I’ve been doing that for more years than most of you have been around.
