Salmon Arm’s Drew Bannister has been recognized in a big way for his field lacrosse skills.

Brent Hoskins, head men’s lacrosse coach at Simon Fraser University (Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association, Division I) and executive director of Burnaby Mountain Lacrosse, has announced the 2012 summer rosters and schedule for the Burnaby Mountain Selects Elite Touring Teams.

Established in 2006 and now entering their eleventh season, the Burnaby Mountain Selects are recognized as one of Canada’s top field lacrosse development programs, combining excellence on the field, with the importance of academic achievement.

The Selects Elite Touring model follows a similar template as a university lacrosse program, designed to train players in a high performance environment, with the objective of best preparing young student-athletes to play at the collegiate level.

Bannister has been selected for the Boys U13 Elite team, attack.

In total, more than 100 student-athletes from 27 different communities across B.C. and Washington State will represent the Selects at top tournaments in Colorado, Maryland, Massachusetts and New York.

Each team will attend an international recruiting event, while also receiving organized tours of NCAA college campuses.

Burnaby Mountain will field five travel teams this summer: Boy’s U13 Elite, Boy’s U15 Elite,  Boy’s Junior Elite, Boy’s Senior Elite, and Girl’s High School Elite.
