Earning karate, kick-boxing belts

The karate and kickboxing students of the Provincial Martial Arts Association have achieved new belt levels.

The karate and kickboxing students of the Provincial Martial Arts Association have achieved new belt levels after completing a belt testing put on by Todd Johnston, director of the PMA of Calgary.

To advance to their next belt, the students had to work hard, performing a variety of Katas, three-step sparring, self-defence, free sparring and board breaking.

Salmon Arm students who achieved their belt tests were: Riley Meyer (green stripe), Angelina Christian (yellow belt), Ben Eddy  (yellow belt), Austin Hannah (yellow belt), Taylor Lovegrove (green stripe), Melissa Vanderoort (green stripe), Angelina Ingerhaag (green stripe), Grace Nelson (green stripe), Kerry Brown (yellow belt), Austin Nelson (yellow belt), Oscar Mayes (yellow belt), Logan Cummings (yellow belt), Sawyer  Mayes (yellow belt), Evan Fankhauser (yellow belt), Alex Smolne (yellow belt), Houston Rampton (green stripe), Phoenix Nash (green stripe).

Salmon Arm belt test teens and adults were Cassiday Hughes (yellow belt), Lindsay Christian (black belt), Matt Veerman (green stripe), Cody Kubik (green stripe), Joel Rusk (blue belt), Will Phillips (green stripe), Cynthia Michaud (yellow belt), Rena Kakuda (green stripe), Kiersten Gaberl-McLeod  (green stripe), An-Mei Andreassen (green stripe), Katie Cullen (yellow belt),  Dylan Lord (green stripe), Logan Phillips (green stripe), Nicolas Michaud (green stripe), Denise Cullen (black), and Bailey and Brodie McIvor.
