Masterful swimming at B.C.'s

The Shuswap Swimming Masters Team members were very successful at the 2011 Provincial Championships Swim Meet in Kelowna April 15-17.

• Women 35-39 – Robin Watt placed second in the 1,500-metre free.

• Women 40-44 – Kathy Sigaty won the 100-m breaststroke, was second in the 50-m breaststroke and third in the 200-m individual medley. Gayle Heinrich took third in both the 50-m and 100-m breaststroke races.

• Women age 70-74 – Linda MacPherson won first place in all five of her races (the 50-m, 100-m, 200-m, 400-m and 1,500-m freestyle races), and broke the provincial and national record for the 1,500-m freestyle.

•Men 40-44 – Ray Mills earned two thirds, one in the 200-m freestyle, and the other in the 50-m freestyle race.

• Men 45-49 – Mike Simpson picked up second in the 50-m backstroke, and three thirds 50-m and 100-m breaststroke and the 200-m freestyle. Vic Hamilton took fourth place in the 50-m freestyle race.

Men 50-54 – Scott McKee picked up three thirds in the 50-m, 100-m and 200-m Freestyle.

• Men 60-64 – Bob Wilkins took home two firsts in the 400-m freestyle, and 400-m individual medley races, and second in the 200-m and 1,500-m freestyle and 200-m backstroke races.

The men’s 4 x 50-m freestyle relay team of Wilkins, McKee, Simpson and Mills earned third place in the event.
