Midget lacrosse team takes bronze

Five midget lacrosse teams from as far away as Sylvan Lake, Alta. attended the annual Lawrence Halvorson Memorial Tournament.

The Shuswap Outlaws Midget Lacrosse Team spent the May long weekend battling their way to a bronze medal in the first half of the Lawrence Halvorson Memorial Tournament at the Shaw Centre.

Five midget lacrosse teams from as far away as Sylvan Lake, Alta. attended the annual tournament.

The Shuswap team came out strong, with a 9-3 victory against North Okanagan on Friday afternoon. The Outlaws came up short later on Friday evening with a score of 5-2 against Port Coquitlam.

Shuswap was back in the box on Saturday afternoon against Sylvan Lake, but were outplayed in a 10-3 rout. Unfazed, the Outlaws returned to the floor later  in the afternoon to shut out Mission 7-0, putting them in third place going into the medal rounds.

Meeting North Okanagan for the second time in the tournament, the Outlaws dominated the scoresheet, securing the bronze medal in a 11-2 victory.

The second half of the Lawrence Halvorson Memorial Tournament, featuring novice and peewee players runs from May 27 to 29.
