Local cyclists have been cross-country mountain bike racing  in BC Cup races over the last few weekends.

They’ve claimed a  number of wins and strong finishes, with two cyclists – Thomas  Hardy and John Connor – qualifying to go to the Nationals in Canmore on July 16.

At the Invermere Panorama BC Cup #3 on July 2, Nelson Kleer of Lee Creek placed second in the U15 Men.

In the U17 category, Connor, Hardy and Kyle Flatman placed first, second and third respectively.

In the Masters 50-plus Men, Church Connor placed first.

At the BC Cup #2 on June 26 on Burnaby Mountain, the Cardiac Classic, Kleer placed fifth in the U15 Men, with Connor, Hardy and Flatman once again first, second and third in the U17 Men.

Connor repeated a first-place finish in the Masters 50-plus Men.

In the BC Cup #1 on June 18 in Mission, called Bear Mountain, Seth Van Varsevelt from Salmon Arm took first in the U15 Men category. Second was Kleer.

In the U17 Men, Hardy took first and Connor third. In fourth place was Patrick Ladyman.

In the U19 Citizen Men category (ages 10 to 18), Flatman placed first.

Connor placed second in the Masters 50-plus Men.
