Tailback Sean Iler ran for three touchdowns in the Junior Bantam Chargers decisive victory over Vernon on Sunday.

Despite the high offensive turnout in the 36-0 win, the major talking point was the Chargers stifling defensive play.

For the third straight game this season the Chargers shutout their opponents.

Defensive end Carter Billey was awarded both the defensive player and the lineman of the game as the Chargers defence didn’t surrender a first down.

The other touchdowns on the day were scored by Austin Hanna and Jonah Rivette.

On Special teams, kicker, Ryan Berke went three-for-five on converts.

The Chargers next game is this Sunday at the SASCU Sports Field versus the Kelowna Lions, as part of the rescheduled Football Day in Salmon Arm.

Peewee

The Salmon Arm Peewee Chargers captured their first win of the season with a convincing 30-12 dismantling of the Vernon Magnums.

Both sides showed off their offensive flair throughout the first half with Salmon Arm holding a slight 16-12 lead heading into halftime during the Sunday afternoon contest.

The Magnums offence dried up in the second half as it was all Chargers, with majors being scored by quarterback Cohen Boyd and running back Riley McEowin. The Chargers’ defence dominated most of the day with Tristan Verney leading the way with 15 solo tackles and many punishing hits.

Next up for the Peewee Chargers is the Mission Lions. Kickoff is next Sunday at noon at the SASCU Sports Field.

Bantam

The Bantam Chargers were stopped in their tracks last Saturday in Richmond as the Cowichan Bulldogs snapped their three game winning streak.

Despite being physically out matched by the Bulldogs, the Chargers kept the game close as the final score was 22-20.

Their next game is on Thanksgiving Day in Kamloops as they host the Richmond Raiders.
